Fees that change every year
Some forms also carry a separate fee required by Public Law 119-21 (for example certain parole, asylum and work permit filings). USCIS says these fees cannot be waived and adjust each year; an inflation update takes effect on October 16, 2026 (fiscal year 2027), and the October 7 fee schedule shown here lists the amounts before it. See the USCIS alert for the current amounts.
FAQ
Is it cheaper to file online?
Usually yes. USCIS says there is often a $50 discount when you file a form online, and the fee schedule lists separate paper and online prices for forms that can be filed online.
How do I pay USCIS fees?
Online filing takes credit, debit or prepaid cards and bank withdrawals. For paper filing, USCIS takes credit card payments (Form G-1450) or ACH bank transfers (Form G-1650); paper checks need an exemption (Form G-1651). Cash is never accepted.
Can USCIS fees be waived?
Some forms allow a fee waiver with Form I-912 if you qualify, and N-400 has a reduced fee for lower-income households. Fees required by Pub. L. 119-21 cannot be waived.
